If you’re an international NFL fan looking for an online streaming service, I highly recommend NFL Game Pass on DAZN. It offers complete coverage of the entire NFL season, including regular games and the Super Bowl. You can even watch games live or on-demand.
The trouble with NFL Game Pass on DAZN is that subscribers in the UK and Ireland won’t have access to all of the games due to blackout restrictions. Furthermore, if you travel abroad, you may find you can no longer stream content because of DAZN’s strict geo-blocking.
A tried and tested method to counter the geographic restrictions is using a Virtual Private Network (VPN). A VPN reroutes your internet connection through an encrypted tunnel to a server in a location of your choice, enabling you to bypass region-locking while bolstering your online security.
NFL Game Pass is now on DAZN. The sports streaming service blocks most VPN IP addresses. As such, no VPN guarantees you’ll successfully be able to bypass NFL Game Pass blackouts.
How to bypass NFL Game Pass blackouts: Quick guide
Below is a quick guide on how to bypass NFL Game Pass blackouts in the UK and Ireland:
- Sign up with a reputable VPN provider. I recommend NordVPN although Surfshark and ExpressVPN are quality alternatives.
- Install the VPN app on your device of choice. All of the above VPNs allow multiple simultaneous connections per account.
- Connect to a VPN server outside of the UK or Ireland. For instance, you can connect to a VPN server in Spain.
- Head to the NFL Game Pass on DAZN website, log in, and proceed to enjoy unrestricted access.
- Still blocked? You may need to clear your cookies. DAZN blocks a lot of VPN IP addresses, so you may also need to switch servers to change your IP address.

How to Watch NFL Games online for free
While you won’t be able to watch all NFL games for free, there are a couple of options for catching some games at no cost:
Free trials of TV streaming services
YouTube TV, FuboTV, and Hulu with Live TV all include channels that show NFL games. These include Fox, CBS, NBC, and ESPN. In addition, they offer free trials for new customers, giving you the chance to watch at least some games for free.
Note that these services are only available in the US, so if you’re accessing it from abroad, you’d need to get a US IP address via a VPN. You would likely also need a US credit card or debit card to pay.
Free-to-air TV channels
You can stream some NFL games for free on international platforms from free-to-air TV channels. This includes Five (UK), RTL and Nitro (Germany), 7plus (Australia) and TVNZ+ (New Zealand). Again, a VPN is required in order to access these channels from abroad.
Is it possible to beat NFL Game Pass blackouts with a free VPN?
Free VPNs appear like a good deal on the surface. However, using a free VPN with the NFL Game Pass service isn’t recommended for a few reasons. The most obvious reason is that free VPNs simply don’t work with DAZN, which is the home of NFL Game Pass.
What’s more, free VPNs tend to have subpar speed and network size, and most won’t unblock streaming services like NFL Game Pass. However, there are other reasons you should be wary of using a free VPN.
Some free VPNs keep logs and even place ads in your browser to make money. In addition, they don’t usually give users a lot of server options. Moreover, free VPNs usually have very low data caps. This isn’t ideal for streaming video, as you’ll hit that cap pretty quickly, especially if you try to stream in HD.
Some free VPN software tools have also been proven to carry malware that infects users’ devices and steal data. Due to all of these reasons, it would be worth your while to check out the paid options instead.

What happened to NFL Game Pass in the US?
NFL Game Pass is no longer offered in the US. Instead, US football fans have NFL+. Like NFL Game Pass, it’s subject to blackouts. It only streams live local and primetime regular season and postseason games in your local market ($14.99/month). This means you’d need to use a VPN and connect to a VPN server in another US state to bypass the restrictions. Furthermore, viewing is restricted to mobile devices.
